HM The Queen and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh attended a service at Chelmsford Cathedral to mark 100 years of the Chelmsford Diocese on May 6, 2014.

Hundreds of well-wishers turned out to greet the pair two years after Chelmsford was awarded city status as part of the Queen's Jubilee.

The royal couple were welcomed by Cathedral Dean Nicholas Henshall and Chelmsford Bishop Stephen Cottrell who preached a moving, humourous and evangelical sermon during which he mentioned that the only way really was Essex.

He remarked: "Yes, you could even say, the only way is Essex, but I want to tell you about a better way and its roots in this old county - the way of Jesus Christ."

As well as this movie, there is also a You Tube slideshow featuring hundreds of photographs.
