Through Helping Children Worldwide's work in Bo, Sierra Leone, we became acutely aware of the intense need for healthcare services for children and other members of the Bo community. Helping Children Worldwide received a significant matching grant in 2005 to establish a hospital in Bo, Sierra Leone. In October, 2007 Mercy Hospital opened its doors, and since that time has drawn patients from throughout the region because of it's reputation for excellent results and compassionate staff. Mercy Hospital provides hospital-based patient care as well as community-based outreach programs to over 10,000 patients a year, with special focus on malaria, prenatal and infant care, nutrition and HIV/AIDS.
