With the reckless #GOPShutdown now a week old, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is launching a video and web site sharing the faces and stories of the shutdown. On the web site, GOPShutdown.com, Americans can sign a petition and use social media outlets demanding that House Republicans end their irresponsible shutdown.

A week ago, House Republicans irresponsibly shut down the government for the first time in 17 years over their reckless obsession to defund the Affordable Care Act, and their decision is hurting the country's safety, business climate, and middle class Americans all across the country.

"From a furloughed NIH researcher who doesn't know when he'll get paid next to a woman who has to worry about her family getting by with only one paycheck, hardworking class families all across the country are feeling the impacts of the #GOPShutdown," said Emily Bittner of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "Since Speaker Boehner and House Republicans refuse to vote on a bipartisan measure to reopen the government, middle class families are feeling the brunt of their reckless obsession to hold the government hostage -- all because they want to defund the Affordable Care Act and give insurance companies free rein over health care. Americans want solutions and a commonsense approach to solving our nation's problems, not House Republicans' reckless and irresponsible approach that is threatening the financial stability of middle class families."
