A combination of the words Christ and monogram, Chrismons are Christian symbols used to represent aspects of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Their most common use is to adorn Christmas trees, where they are made from a variety of materials and are usually depicted in white or gold or a combination of both. The original Chrismon Christmas tree ornaments were created in 1957 in Danvilles Ascension Lutheran Church, as the churchs pastor and senior council member explain in this visually moving look at what has now become a worldwide holiday tradition.
