This is just a description of ways to do hip lifts while hooping. You can also do hip drops, where you push the hip down from the top instead of lift it up from the bottom (direction change). You can also alternate between one hip and the others during these hip lifts or hip pushes. That puts a real wiggle in the line you are creating with your body.
