Host: Jim Schneider
Guest: Dr. Jim Garrow
Dr. James Garrow is the founder and executive director of the Bethune Institute's Pink Pagoda schools, private English-immersion schools for Chinese children. Today he runs 168 schools with nearly 6,300 employees. Garrow has spent over $25 million over the past sixteen years rescuing an estimated 40,000 baby Chinese girls from near-certain death under China's one-child-per-couple policy by facilitating international adoptions. He was nominated for the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize where he would be runner-up to the eventual winner, President Barack Obama. He is the author of the newly released book, "The Pink Pagoda: One Man's Quest to End Gendercide in China".
Believe it nor not, under China's one-child policy, 8 million female babies are killed per year and that number doesn't include the abortion count. This preference for males is a 5,000 year old cultural tradition because of the passing on of wealth and status as well as the fact that the males are responsible for looking after the elderly parents.
Join Jim Garrow as he explains how he can operate his schools and especially how he can rescue Chinese children in spite of the fact that this is technically illegal by U.N. definition. He also describes how he came to become the runner up to President Obama for the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, how he feels about President Obama's posture on life issues and so much more.
Contact with Jim Garrow can be made through www.wnd.com and in your e-mail reference "The Pink Pagoda".
