Summerside's 1916 New Year's Patriotic Skate: A Tale of Prince Edward Island

As the population of Summerside grew by nearly 500 during the recruitment period of the 105th Battalion, the citizens of Summerside gathered to help support soldiers away from home for the first time. Out of a desire to keep morale high and improve the welfare of the men, the community of Summerside planned the New Year's Patriotic Skate in 1916. Enjoy this radio drama that depicts the historical details of this significant community event.
