Maple syrup smooth delivery, rivulets of thought cascading into a raging
waterful of creative genius, the poignant meditations and calculating drop
of Azrael, are in overwhelming effect again with "Pocket Watch".
His tenth project and second solo release in the last year In this new collaborative effort
Imaginations Treetrunk veteran Azrael and Vancouver super producer
Sythe team up to combine their deep respect for Jazz with their
determination to do something different for Hip-hop, as Sythe puts it
"Jazz has been sampled to death, it was important to do
something fresh". Months of work recording musicians from around the
world and locally, have paid dividends for this young duo

'Pocket Watch' will send you back in time to a jazz hole full of raw
underground emcees where the vibe hangs like candlelight caught
in smoke and the waitress doesn't know whether to kiss you or slap you.
Truly soulful beat selection drives the live bouncing rhythms, undulating
basslines, and conversely the patient melodious inspiration of Jazz
Piano, the tender caress of horns, and captivating thrum of the upright.
Sythe shows his passion for the sound, masterfully producing a wide
range of tones and emotions with amazing consistency in the specificity
of the theme, which makes for a very full sounding album from start to finish.
Azrael's song writing ability is at its peak here with clever choruses littered with inspired
wordplay, metaphorical jewels and universal wisdom. His style is clean
concise and original, together with the multi-talented
producer and emcee Sythe and the rest of ILL-Legitimate, 'Pocket Watch'
is primed to detonate the music scene instantly and for years
to come.
