Some considerations in getting started with archiving family prints, negatives, slides, etc. Here's the math broken down for finding the best resolution for your intended scanning purpose. If you want to print at least an 8x10, for example... 8" x 240 pixels per inch (PPI) = 1920 pixels 10" x 240 ppi = 2400 pixels
So for an 8x10 print, the image needs to be at least 1920x2400 pixels, which is 4,600,800 pixels, which is about 4.6 megapixels.
