Last year, when it was revealed to Congress that the IRS was responsible for the targeting of conservative groups, President Obama said his administration would "work hand-in-hand with Congress to get this thing fixed."
This week, that promise was broken when the IRS claimed it could not produce two years of emails from Lois Lerner and from six other IRS employees involved in the targeting. Specifically, the IRS lost the e-mails for Nicole Flax, former Chief of Staff to Acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller, who was a frequent visitor to the White House and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. This only raises more questions. Worse, the IRS has been keeping the fact that the agency lost these critical records a secret for months.
While President Obama said his administration would fully cooperate with Congress, the American people are still waiting for answers.
