This is the 2nd lesson in the series, "Radioactivity." This lesson describes some of the applications of natural radioactivity in the twenty first century. It examines the effects of radiation on living cells and shows how radioactive sources have been used in medicine to treat certain types of cancers and to make accurate diagnoses. It also examines how an understanding of radioactivity is used in geology to date rock samples.
