The Chill Zone was designed and created by Denegri Bessai Studio in partnership with the Ryerson Design Fabrication Zone for NXNE’s inaugural two day outdoor musical festival in Toronto’s Port Lands. The installation sets out a network of artificial turf walkways with the intersections punctuated by colorful and whymsical inflatable structures. At once playful and functional, the pneumatic structures provided festival goers shade from the sun and a relaxing environment in which to hang out between concert sets. The extremely light weight polyethylene plastic tube structures were lit with LED floods.
