We noticed that our Tatano wood pellet/log boiler was loosing heat through its front door, so we purchased an infrared temperature gun to see how much heat was being lost. To our surprise the temperature on the door was as high as 200 degrees Celsius. Our biomass pellet boiler like many is located in an outbuilding that is not insulated. Therefore it can get particularly cold in the winter months. With such dramatic heat loss through the front door the colder the room temperature the more heat is pulled from the boiler increasing fuel consumption. Therefore we decided to develop the Biomass Boiler Cosy to force the heat back into the boiler. The cover is made from high temperature resistant materials that are durable and have excellent insulation. The exterior of the cover is made from woven glass fibre with a silicone rubber coating. The insulation within the cover is glass mineral wool with a bright class aluminium foil facing on one side to direct the heat back into the boiler heat exchanger tubes. Through tests we have conducted the Biomass Boiler Cosy has reduced fuel consumption by 13.9%. The means a 9.84 kg reduction in premium grade wood fuel pellets over a 24H period. Currently our wood pellets cost us £200 per tonne so the Boiler Cosy saves us £1.97 per day. The Biomass Boiler Cosy is made easy to fit and remove for the regular cleaning and maintenance the furnace requires. We custom design each cover to any size required. We can design covers for wood pellet, chip, log or even straw bale boilers. If you would be interested in pricing and a quotation please click the link above.
