(More information can be found at http://darcy.rsgc.on.ca/ACES/TEI3M/Gr...) The prototype circuit (see parts 1 & 2) was transferred to a DIY circuit board and then mounted on an acrylic stand. A calibrated ruler made of acrylic contained 11 marks spaced roughly 2.5 cm apart. Dropping the ruler through the photointerrupter yields split times used to obtain a crude approximation to the force of acceleration due to gravity (approx. -9.86 m/s^2). Many thanks to M.
