A bit of an overview of the sub-surface scattering shader in Blender Cycles and a quick node setup that almost makes using it idiot-proof. (No more guessing for radius values.)

The first 7½ minutes is getting Suzanne (the monkey head) staged to better show the SSS when rendered, so in order to skip right to the node setup goodness go to 7:30
