CHICKASHA -- With less than a season under its belt, the USAO men's cross country team is finding its stride, said junior runner Kieran Brennan.

"It's been a progressive season. We started off OK, continuously throughout every race and every practice, we have been getting better and better," he said. "It's been a good season. It's been difficult because it is new to a lot of us."

As the Drovers have become more familiar with the life of a cross country runner, their times have begun improving significantly. Each of the runners beat their previously held records in the most recent meet.

"We knew that we had more to give. We were prepared a bit more," he said. "We were more of a team in that race, and we just went for it."

Brennan, originally from England, came to USAO to play soccer, but only ended up playing one season. Now a junior, Brennan says he stayed in Chickasha for the community it has provided to him over the years.

"Definitely the people," he said. "The friends I've made and the families of those friends who brought me in as their own son have really helped me out. I'm enjoying it, and it's going to be hard to leave the place."
