Testing out a couple of the different modes of the GoPro HD Hero 2 and converting them to slow motion.
- The WVGA 120 was the worst quality, but gives 120 frames per second so the slow motion is smooth
- The 1080 is great for picture quality, however it only captures 30 frames per second, and so the slow motion looks more blurry.
- There are many other settings, in particular the 960 and 720 options, which I will test another day.
Personally I find the 720 60fps is the best for smooth playback and good picture quality.
The slow motion was created following a tutorial - The video was split into a single JPEG for each frame, and then put into i-movie and was set to play back at 1 frame per 0.1 second (or 0.2 seconds on the 3rd test)
The 4th Test shows the slow motion effect in i-movie, which drops frames and doesn't look as nice as the first technique.
