Rosemary Carbonelli, Assisted Living Administrator of the Pines of Sarasota, Fla., talks about how the CMS proposed rule on Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waivers would impact residents on her campus which provides assisted living, dementia care and nursing care. If put into effect, the rule would change current regulations by allowing states to a number of things. The main concern is the rule could disqualify many assisted living, group homes, and nursing facilities serving Medicaid beneficiaries in HCBS programs.
