The Japanese have failed and they know it. from that day forward The Carrier came of age and since then has been the spear head of The US Fleet.

there were the 3 Yorktown class carriers (Yorktown, Hornet, Enterprise); i don't know anything about the 4 others but i'm not surprised they exist.
Langley was converted to a seaplane tender in 1937 and re-designated AV-3. At the time of Pearl Harbor she was in Manila with the Asiatic Fleet.

I would be skeptical towards the results the submarines may achieve since the torpedoes used by the navy prior to 1943 were often faulty and sometimes just fail to detonate. There have been numerous accounts of american submarines scoring multiple direct torpedo hits without achieving a single detonation
