"Let's Have a Battle (of the Bands)" from the movie "My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Rainbow Rocks" based on the television show "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic." **DOWNLOAD LINKS BELOW**
NOTE: The other new songs from Rainbow Rocks which were released early have been taken down, but are still available to download here: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/v5ut...
Here we have our first song released from the actual Rainbow Rocks movie! This song is sung by the new movie's main antagonists, Adagio Dazzle, Sonata Dusk, and Aria Blaze as they "persuade" the students of Canterlot High that they need to have a competition, more specifically a Battle of the Bands.
For the first song released from the actual movie, this is starting things out pretty epic! The song definitely has a "sirens' song" vibe going on, especially with the "ahh" backing vocals. The singing is fantastic, and the harmonies are both beautiful and a little threatening. It's great to get another villain song, which are always fun to listen to. The song is definitely one of the more unique ones from the Equestria Girls series, combing some electronic rock, modern musical theatre, and pop elements to create the haunting melody. My favorite part has to be the great harmony of the chorus at 2:07. It's not often we hear such pronounced male harmonies in MLP, and they sound fantastic here!
This preview was released in surprisingly high-quality, especially compared to the Rainbow Rocks shorts. The track was released in stereo, but my initial efforts of obtaining an instrumental version via removing the center-panned vocals proved fruitless. This is due to the vocals, including the center-panned vocalist, having heavy echoes and reverb. This leads to any attempt at using the center-pan method yielding a distorted track. I'll continue to try tomorrow, but I doubt I will have much luck.
Once the movie is released in high-definition, I will of course re-upload this song, its instrumental versions, as well as the rest of the songs / BGM from the movie. While the movie is releasing in theaters in September, the home release, I believe, is currently scheduled for October. So it will be a little bit of a wait, unfortunately.
