This summer many families will be looking forward to a holiday in the sun, but spiralling costs often mean going away in the school holidays can be too pricey.

As a parent it can be hard to balance the need for a well-earned family break with the guilty feeling that you may have to take your children out of school to get it. For many families an affordable holiday means resorting to this but it needn't be the case.

Well-priced holidays are available, you just need to know where and how to get the right information. It is important to be ready when the best deals come out and keep an eye open for online bargains.

Preparation is also vital. Whether you're a perfect planner or a last minute traveller, having some insider knowledge on your destination will allow you to make the most of your holiday. It is also important to remember not just getting the best deal on transport and accommodation but also to consider the cost of living once you arrive at your destination.

Fortunately for us travel expert Jane Anderson, has teamed up with Teletext Holidays to offer a comprehensive guide to all your vacation needs.

In our live webTV show, she offers her insider tips and advice on how to get the most out of your family holiday without breaking the bank
