Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao is currently on a tour of Europe, but the political affairs back home are never far away. During his visit to Stockholm, Sweden on Tuesday, local Falun Gong practitioners staged a demonstration. They're urging Wen to take action against those within the high ranks of the Communist Party responsible for human rights abuses.

[Malin Nordstrand, Swedish Falun Dafa Association]:
"We are here to welcome Wen Jiabao and we want to encourage him to work for an end of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, and also bring Jian Zeming, the former President, and others like Zhou Zhongkang, Bo Xilai, Luo Gan for their crimes against Falun Gong practitioners in China."

All of the people named by Ms Nordstrand are current and former Communist leaders who have spearheaded the persecution of the Falun Gong spiritual practice. Bo Xilai and Zhou Yongkang have been making news in recent weeks as being locked in a tense political infighting against Wen Jiabao and Hu Jintao.

Some analysts believe that, at the core of this struggle is the issue of the Falun Gong persecution. Former Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin launched this campaign in 1999, and those named here are linked by their active participation. Notably, neither Wen nor Hu have had direct involvement in the persecution.

[Malin Nordstrand, Swedish Falun Dafa Association]:
"We know [Wen Jiabao] has distanced himself from the persecution of Falun Gong and hasn´t actually been part of the persecution himself. We also know he is working towards political reform in China."

Before Wen arrived in Sweden, Falun Gong practitioners in Iceland and Germany also made similar calls for Wen to bring those responsible for the persecution to justice.
