This is -as far as I know- the only way to get around to play Minecraft on a computer that will make Minecraft display a fatal error. If you have just gotten the game, its a really great game and going through this bit of trouble is worth it. Also if you have just gotten the game, you have no saves that you need to update so skip the first and second transferring of the files.

What you will need:

1. Your computer that displays a fatal error
2. A flash drive (I think it should have at least about 300MB depending on your saves
3. Another computer that you know will run Minecraft

Now for the steps

1. Re-install Java to make sure that Java is not the problem
2. If Java is not the issue, then open "Run" and type in "%appdata%
3. This will bring up the Roaming folder. Click on the .minecraft folder
4. Insert the flash drive and Cut and Paste the contents of the .minecraft folder into the flash drive
5. Now plug the flash drive into the other computer
6. Open the .minecraft folder on that computer
7. Make a new file on the desktop and Cut and Paste the contents of the .minecraft folder into that folder
8. Cut and Paste the contents of the flash drive into the .minecraft folder
9. Start up Minecraft and login, your stuff will be updated
10. Now do the reverse of what I just said to put all of the files back where the should belong
11. Your Minecraft is Now updated!!

*this is not technically a fix but it still lets you play!
