http://www.freemathvideos.com In this video tutorial I will show you how to graph and write the equation of an ellipse. An ellipse graphically can be drawn as a circle or oval. The definition of an ellipse is the set of points thats sum is equal to each foci. An ellipse has to focus in which we call the foci. There is also a center point which is given the notation (h,k) An ellipse also has two vertices and co-vertices. When an ellipse takes the shape of an oval the two vertices lie on the major axis and the two co-vertices lie on the minor axis. It is important to note that the two vertices, foci and center all lie on the major axis. It will be important to note when our major axis is a horizontal or vertical line as the equation for each ellipse is different.
