Occupy OKC Members Mic Check Walmart. This is the third and last Walmart stop of the evening, where ten activists were arrested when Walmart brought in the Del City Police to tackle and handcuff the participants as they were peacefully leaving the store. Four women and six men were arrested. I was filming, they asked me to stop, and I complied. As I was leaving, a Del City police officer tackled me from behind, knocking me to the floor and roughly handcuffing me.

Here's our mic check, written almost a full year before Walmart workers began to organize to strike on Black Friday, 2012 (it was shortened at the last Walmart):

Mic Check!

Attention Walmart employees
It is a shame and an outrage
That you are forced to work today
When you should be home
With your friends and families

It is a shame and an outrage
Walmart makes huge profits
From your labor
But only pays you pennies

It is a shame and an outrage
While you slave away
At below poverty-level wages
Walmart's CEO Mike Duke
Makes 19 million a year

It is a shame and an outrage
You may earn $8.75 an hour
While CEO Mike Duke
Makes 19 thousand an hour

It is a shame and an outrage
That you struggle to survive
And feed your families
While Walmart profits
Over $10 billion dollars a year

It is a shame and an outrage
That millions of female employees
Have been discriminated against
But have been refused their day in court

Walmart is unjust
Stop what you are doing
Leave your carts behind
And join us!
Buy local!
