NOTE: Lys GAUTY (née Alice Gauthier) (b. 1900 in Levallois-Perret, d. in Monte-Carlo, 1994) Among Damia, Berthe Sylva, Edith Piaf - she was one of the greatest names of the French chanson in 1930/40s. She received classical music education, yet in 1920s she instead chose doing her cereer in the cabarets of Paris („Chez Fyscher, rue d'Antin). Quickly, she gained popularity in the music hall productions, especially when the famous pianist and composer Guy van Parys became her accompanist. Ever since, she interpreter and recorded lot of evergreen hits: „Le Chaland qui passe (1931) from the film „L'Atalante (Jean Vigo), „À Paris dans chaque faubourg(1933) from „Quatorze juillet by René Clair or „Le Bonheur est entré dans mon coeur (1938).
In 1946 she had a triumphant comeback in „Alhambra, interpreting her new hits „Un petit bouquet de violettes and „En écoutant mon coeur charter. In spite of the success, she chose retreat in Nice, where she lived with occasional appearances on stage, solely in the region of Nice-Monte Carlo, until her death, in 1994.
