Info on Rift Setup

I didn’t mention this in the video but I am using a combination of my onboard USB controller and the recommended Inateck controller. I have my devices spread over those ports but the key thing to note here is that I am NOT using the recommended vendor specific drivers for this. I did that initially and had numerous problems, not only was VR inconsistent but my computer overall was extremely unstable. Once I pulled off those drivers and used the standard Windows drivers everything has been stable ever since. I do see the warning in the Oculus device area though, but hey, it works… Also, after looking up my order and even measuring to confirm, that HDMI extension really is 15’. Way beyond what they support but it has been working great and the extra length really helps with cable positioning and management. I should also mention that I have yet to re-run the sensor setup routine since the update with official room scale and 3 sensor support. Not sure if they recommend a setup different than what I showed, I don’t really care though as my current setup is butter smooth!

Overview of Chair

The shakers were wired and screwed into my office chair. I have just a power cord and audio cable that runs from the back of my PC to the chair. The audio setup on the PC is where things online got a bit muddy. The link I posted below helps a bunch but here is the gist. I needed to be able to mirror my audio to both my onboard sound card and my wireless headphones. I used a piece of software called Voicemeeter, http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/.... It will send out audio to multiple sources so a perfect solution here. The other issue was getting only the bass audio over to the amp from my sound card. Again, the link I posted was a huge help here as the method described uses software based low pass filtering instead of having to purchase actual filters you need to wire in. the benefit, aside from the time and money of putting that together, is that you can change the frequencies pretty much on the fly in order to really dial things in for your specific use.
