On Tuesday at the 2012 Summer Olympics, Australian Sally Pearson won gold in the women's 100m hurdles, with an Olympic record time of 12.35 seconds. Finishing just behind her were Americans Dawn Harper and Kellie Wells, winning silver and bronze, respectively. The photo finish was too close to call and went to judges' review, where it was determined that Pearson had in deed won -- by just 0.02 seconds -- an announcement that overwhelmed Pearson and left her collapsing with joy. In the men's 1500m final, Algerian Taoufik Makhlafi won gold, just a day after being reinstated following a disqualification for a lack of effort in an 800m heat. Leo Manzano took silver in the 1500m, becoming the first American to medal in the event in 44 years.
