This video presents StereoTrack; a low-cost positional tracking technique that only requires a pair of speakers, for example those available in your TV. A helper app connects to the Bluetooth speakers allowing each speaker to emit an unique inaudible tone. User movements lead to Doppler shifts which are recorded by the smartphone's internal microphones and then using triangulation StereoTrack can estimate the smartphone's displacement in the horizontal plane. Currently a tracking space of 12x12 foot is supported. Because StereoTrack uses dead reckoning localization, it is subject to a small amount of drift over time, but this can be mitigated by having users recalibrate every so often.
