West Virginia University President James P. Clements delivers his annual State of the University address, October 10th, 2011 at the National Research Center for Coal and Energy, Evansdale campus. In this annual address, Clements acknowledges the University's ongoing devotion to its land-grant mission. WVU is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Morrill Act, which paved the way for land-grant institutions and WVU's existence.

He also highlights the personal success stories of students and explains how WVU is "one of the hottest universities in the country." While higher education institutions across the nation slash budgets, salaries and academic departments, WVU has done the opposite, Clements has said.
