Greece: Extremist Parties Sense a Chance | European Journal

An emergency coalition of the conservatives and the socialists is set to govern Greece until new elections in February. The rightwing nationalist LAOS Party wants to profit from the crisis.Greece is under tremendous pressure. The EU says Athens must act fast to implement its promises to cut its debt and its deficit and slash spending before further bailout funds will flow. Also faced with the threat of being expelled from the eurozone, Greece's new government will have little leeway. The rightwing nationalists blame the mainstream parties for the mess and hope to gain from voters'sense of frustration.
