For my final project for Sr. Mary Anne Linder's Catechetics class, we had to take one of the letters from C.S. Lewis's Screwtape Letters and rewrite it in a unique way. I decided to put together a stop-motion video highlighting some of the themes in Letter VII. In my presentation, I show a multi-media user who is busy watching TV, playing games, checking facebook, and talking on the phone ... all at one time! "The Patient" misses the quiet whisper of God because he is distracted all day by noise. Once God sends a "blessing" of a power outage the devil loses his influence over the Patient. Sitting in the quiet, the Patient is motivated to clear off his table to make room for the Word. It is my hope that this presentation will make people aware of how the devil can so subtly distract us from our path to God. I also hope that those who are multi-media users (me included) will learn how to use media in moderation and for the greater glory of God. Finally and most importantly, I hope that this presentation encourages people to make time to for prayer. "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find: knock, and it shall be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7).
