The kickoff event of the "JGI Science at the Lesher" series featured a panel consisting of Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI) CEO Jay Keasling (center left), DOE Joint Genome Institute Deputy Director Jim Bristow (far right) and DOE JGI Staff Scientist Susannah Tringe (center right), who are developing ways to convert the solar energy stored in plants into liquid transportation fuels.
The panel was moderated by KTVU Channel 2 Health and Science Editor John Fowler (far left) and the event took place at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, California on January 18, 2011.
