A song written in the early 70's by Billy Mulligan in honour of the Volunteers of the Official IRA. The Official IRA called a ceasefire to offensive actions late in 1972 in an attempt to defuse the situation in the Six Counties, but continued to carry on defensive and retaliatory actions until about 1980. The subsequent history of the Official IRA is shrouded in mystery. If indeed the organisation still exists in any form they have never decommisioned their weapons even though they have apparently remained committed to a unification of the Working Class in the Six Counties as the only way forward to a Socialist future.
