I went to a wedding in Iceland once, and my supposedly waterproof watch cracked in the geothermal waters. The landscape was like the moon, a volcanic wonderland of desolation and forbidding large grey rocks. In the interior, there was snow, and in Reykjavík (the capital), ordinary people had painted their houses lurid colours, as if to ward off the island isolation and the strange forbidding nature around them. "Of Monsters and Men" are a burst of colour, a marshaling of the human spirit against that Icelandic landscape in an explosion of joy. Their lyrics suggest a war between man and nature, but their spirit is celebration. At Scala in London, they performed "Six Weeks," a track from their indie folk rock album "My Head Is an Animal," released in the UK on August 13th 2012, already released in many territories.
