Fifty per cent of households in Ontario get their water from groundwater. But how does this water get into the well? If it isn’t evaporated or taken up by plants or animals, rain water or snow water moves down through the spaces between the particles of dirt and sand. A pump is used to deliver the water, under pressure, to the surface. The more water needed, the bigger the pump!

Because we cannot create more water, we are dependent on the weather to replenish our supplies. So if we’re not careful, can we deplete all of our water sources?
