he ministry of devolution and planning has launched the socio economic atlas of Kenya based on the August 2009 population and housing census. This is expected to guide both the government and private sector in their planning towards development projects and numerous reforms in the country. According to the cabinet secretary for planning Anne Waiguru, the report is just but one of the many reports schedules for release to inform policy makers at different levels of governance and development partners. The creation of the atlas which began in 2012 was done by three organizations, the Kenya Bureau of Statistics, centre for training and integrated research in ASAL development, and the University of Bern in Switzerland.
