In this floor speech, Senator Harkin urged Senate Republicans not to obstruct the nomination of Richard Cordray to lead the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Harkin said that doing so would put Wall Street back in the driver's seat, to allow the big banks and money-lenders to go back to the exact same reckless and predatory practices that caused the crash of 2008, with so much devastation to the middle class.
