Fifth graders from Pittsburgh schools compete in the fall 2011 "Colors of the Rainbow" semi-finals of Dancing Classrooms Pittsburgh, sponsored by Mercy Behavioral Health. The ballroom dance competition, held on Jan. 7, 2012, was the culmination of 10 weeks of in-school instruction based on the methods of Pierre Dulaine and featured in the films "Mad Hot Ballroom" and "Take the Lead."

Six couples from each of nine Pittsburgh Public Schools and Catholic Schools were chosen from more than 400 students who participated in Dancing Classrooms Pittsburgh in the fall 2011 semester. The young dancing stars performed the Merengue, Foxtrot, Rumba, Tango, and Swing.

Four teams advanced to the finals on May 19, 2012.

Mercy Behavioral Health is part of the Pittsburgh Mercy Health System and Catholic Health East, sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy.
