Katie-Rae - These are my views on autism.

"Having Asperger's Syndrome is like wearing sunglasses that you cannot take off, you see the world around you but there are some things hidden in the dark that are very hard to see.

Autism is very diverse so every person has things that they find difficult and cannot do.

In my case, it is understanding how people think and feel, myself included. I have trouble speaking to people and I do not like to attract attention and because of this I hardly ever leave the house, when I do it is normally because I have to, so school and higher education have been hard for me. I often feel isolated because I do not know how to make friends, but there can be good days too.
I notice some things, like when people look at me like I am strange or I am crazy and It truly hurts to see people feel this way about me. Being positive is difficult, you start to believe what people are saying and you feel like giving up, but I will never stop trying to prove them wrong. The thing to remember is that your family and the people you care about are always there for you. They will not leave you or stop caring even if they move away, get angry or are not able to be with you.

Remembering this will help enlarge your world and cast light on the parts of your life you do not understand.
