Donating blood to the Red Cross is a time commitment, but donating platelets is a serious time commitment. Each donation takes about two hours and, with only a 5-day shelf life, platelets in the New England area are often in short supply.

Over the last 13 years, Christopher Bridge has regularly donated platelets at the American Red Cross Blood Services facility in Manchester. Donating platelets continues to be a priority in Chris' life, whether he is working near the Apheresis Center in Manchester, returning from a sailing trip abroad, or making a visit to our center from New Hampshire's Seacoast where he now lives. Time and distance never deter him.

As a double-needle triple-unit donor, Chris is a humble hero whose donations year-after-year save the lives of others in a quiet and often unnoticed way.
