God’s Love Language
Part 3

Psalm 139:1
“O Lord, You have searched me.”

Part 3

Matthew 18:10-11
“10. Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. 11. For the Son of man came to save that which was lost.”

Acts 6:15
“And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at Stephen, saw his face as the face of an angel.”

Lessons from the Angels:

1. That we do not despise one another.

Despise (kataphroneo) – disesteem or think little of

Behind every mask is a face and behind that a story.

Remember, super-spiritual people do not inspire they intimidate!

2. We find our strength in the Father’s face.

Exodus 32:32
“But now, please forgive their sin —but if not, then blot me out of the book you have written.”

True forgiveness/love is the willingness to bear the punishment of the one who offended you.

Moses found the strength of love in the Father’s face!

3. To help people feel safe again.

Save (sozo) – make whole, safe

Genesis 3:13
And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”

Isaiah 59:2
“Your sins have hidden His face.”

We must wash the face of God and restore the broken image!

Matthew 18:12
“What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying?”
Astray & Straying (planao) – seduced, lose your way

Are you standing on the edge of that cliff? Is your violin broken?

Isaiah 59:2
“But your iniquities have separated you from your God.”

Iniquities (avown) – perversity, punishment

The Punishment of Shame:
• Separated from His presence
• Separated from the truth of your identity
• Separated from Community

Genesis 3:10
So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

In your shame do you believe God is mildly disgusted with you?

Matthew 18:13
“And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray.”

“And if he should find it”

1st – There is an element of uncertainty, because God’s grace can be resisted.

Love that has no choice carries no meaning!

“He rejoices over the one”

2nd – God delights in saving to the least.

In His holiness He could not overlook our sin but in His love He could not let go of us!

Psalms 139:7-8
7. “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?”
8. “If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You
are there.”

“Someone is looking for you – Abba is looking for you!”

Matthew 18:14
“Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.”

“Tell my people someone is looking for them!”

Psalms 42:7
“Deep calls unto deep!”

Psalms 137:5
“If I forget you, may my right hand forget its skill.”
