This is a presentation of the response that took place during the Lesser Slave Lake Wildfire of 2011. Numerous fire departments and emergency response agencies from around the province acted quickly to support this disaster. This is the story of Parkland County joint response effort with the Town of Stony Plain and the Town of Devon. Three fire apparatus and 25 personnel were deployed over multiple shifts to the Lesser Slave Lake area where they banned together with other first responders to provide whatever aid and assistance we could.
During this presentation you will hear comments made by our firefighters as they reflect on their time spent with the disaster response and recovery. Parkland County fire crews witnessed and were the immediate first responders to the tragic helicopter incident; the responding firefighters explain their thoughts and emotions as they saw and responded to the crash of a fellow firefighter.
With this horrible incident we present this video as a tribute to the hard and tireless work of the Lesser Slave Lake Regional Fire Services, fallen brother Jean-Luc Deba, the countless emergency responders and aid workers and our own Parkland County Firefighters.
We are proud to have helped and proud to have worked with you all!
