Bix Beiderbecke's first released recording with the Jean Goldkette band. At the time they were the most popular and the most soulful white dance band in the nation. This is not shown in their recordings however, because the executives at Victor made them record often mediocre and swoozy love songs that featured singers not even affiliated with the group! To hear what the band really must have sounded like, one must listen to either the final choruses of these tunes or their two hottest numbers, "Clementine (from New Orleans)" and "My Pretty Girl (Stomp)". Here Bix's cornet shines in a solo before the vocal chorus by Frank Bessinger.
