The 2013 NBA Development League All-Star Game returns to NBA All-Star festivities for the seventh consecutive year when the Prospects and Futures teams take to the court at Sprint Arena at NBA All-Star Jam Session at Houston's George R. Brown Convention Center at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, Feb. 15. The game, which will feature 20 top NBA D-League prospects, will air live on NBA TV at 3 p.m. ET.
The 2013 NBA D-League Dream Factory presented by Boost Mobile will again be integrated into the day's events with the Boost Mobile Three-Point Contest tipping off the action at 2:30 p.m. ET and the Boost Mobile Slam Dunk Competition taking place during the game's halftime break.
Bakersfield Jam head coach Will Voigt and his staff along with Maine Red Claws head coach Mike Taylor and his staff will coach the teams in Houston. Voigt was selected to helm the Prospects Team based on having the highest winning percentage with a 17-8 record in the three-division NBA D-League in games played through Jan. 27. Taylor and his staff earned the trip to Houston to coach the Futures Team by virtue of a 17-10 record and winning a head-to-head tiebreaker with Alex Jensen and the staff of the Canton Charge, who had the same record through games of Jan. 27, for the League's second-best winning percentage. Taylor and Voigt are each making their first NBA D-League All-Star appearance.
"We're thrilled to bring the NBA D-League All-Star Game and Dream Factory presented by Boost Mobile back to Houston," said Dan Reed, NBA D-League President. "NBA D-League All-Star activities are an opportunity for fans from around the country to watch top prospects and future NBA impact players compete and we're excited to again showcase our game on basketball's biggest stage at NBA All-Star Weekend."
More than 20 players have earned GATORADE Call-Ups following their appearance in the last three NBA D-League All-Star Games, including 2012 NBA D-League All-Star MVP Gerald Green, currently of the Indiana Pacers, and 2011 NBA D-League All-Stars and current NBA players Ivan Johnson (Atlanta Hawks) and Jeff Adrien (Charlotte Bobcats). The 20 NBA D-League All-Stars and the Boost Mobile Slam Dunk Competition and Three-Point Contest participants will be announced at a later date.
