Premise: I asked a bunch of folks at the recent Change Rocks show at Penn State what some well-known Hunter lyrics meant to them. Also, since it periodically comes up in the comments, I wanted to address the "dewing of the bell" theory that attempts to explain the phrase, "roll away the dew." This theory is not true. It comes from Andrew Shalit's highly arch and ironic post about the meaning of the song -- this is the link: http://artsites.ucsc.edu/GDead/agdl/s... In case you didn't get the joke, this is Shalit's final line: "By the way, Franklin's Tower (the real one, not the song) has since been converted to a bridge. If anyone's interested in buying it, let me know." The origin of the lyrics/idea are addressed directly by Hunter at the video's end. C'mon kids, pay attention.
