How Political Heat Has Pushed Fox News Into The Lead With Facebook Publishers

NewsWhip recently reported in August 2015 that Fox news has moved ahead of Huffington Post, specifically as the most engaged news site with Facebook users with the help of tools such as the Fresh Title software. Although the BBC still leads with Twitter engagement, it is this very significant change in rankings, especially since Huffington Post is very popular because of its wide ranging stories that can motivate people to post and share. Let's take a look at what these NewsWhip rankings really mean in terms of the popularity of Fox News, and how politics really does play a role in this recent resurgence of its popularity in terms of stories being shared across the web.

What Politics Matter

Right now we are in the midst of both the Republican and Democratic selections, and politics is really a primary focus with people along with finding a great Fresh Title review. Although Fox news is a conservative news organization, very different from the many strange stories that are often posted on Huffington Post or even BuzzFeed, it seems to be taking center stage. The presidential race, and especially the front runner for the Republicans Donald Trump has changed the game significantly. In fact, Fox news had almost 36,000,000 likes, shares and comments with all of the Facebook posts, crippling the leads of both HuffPo and BuzzFeed.

Why Are August Ratings Lower?

This is simply a statistical average that occurs every year, a place where user engagement tends to drop and people getting more interested in a quality Fresh Title bonus. August is just a month where sharing and engagement with stories is not as high. It's also in between presidential debates so emotions are not factoring in. As we move closer to the final dates when candidates are chosen for either side, this will pick up significantly. Despite a drop in Fox news shares, it is far ahead of the others in terms of article counts, likes, shares and comments. Despite having a very tough month, HuffPo will eventually rebound once the politics are out of season, so to speak, allowing people to focus on something other than who is going to be elected.

Most Tweeted In August

According to the NewsWhip’s Twitter rankings, the BBC in New York Times had far fewer tweets with Fox news lunging forward. Now ranking fifth from a previous ninth position, it is also moving ahead on Twitter. It is very common for stories to be shared at a much faster pace on Twitter because they are easier posts to make. Although the following a smaller than Facebook, people are more reactive on Twitter, something that has made this company what it is today. At the top of the list was the BBC, followed by the New York Times and then Mashable with Fox news and fifth place. This is predicted to change dramatically as the final choices for the presidential candidates are made, helping to boost not only the popularity of Fox news but also the amount of money that they will make from advertisements.

Is Politics Good For Social Media?

The bottom line is that any type of news that motivates people emotionally will always be the power behind social media and sharing. People do not necessarily shared things because they are interested in them. They have to move them in some way, and there are few topics that are as emotionally motivating as politics area this should continue as a trend for many months to come, and it will not just be on Facebook or Twitter. All social networks, news networks, and informational sites like The Guardian and Huffington Post are going to benefit from the emotional interest that people have in the political scene.

Once a new president has been chosen, this will probably die down, and things will go back to normal. Huffington Post may very well resume it stop positioning as it tends to hold because of the many different niche stories that it presents, but until that time, politics will remain supreme. This is good business across the board for every company on the web that uses information to generate revenue. It is a great time for advertisers that are selling products as well, making politics a very beneficial resource for anyone trying to sell products or services online.
