Copper Lug Crimping for 2/0 Welding Cable for your Lead Acid Batteries. Manual Crimping of the heavy Cast Copper Lugs work just fine and give a superior crimp over the hydro crimpers you can buy. On the outside the hydro crimp looks good but is not a superior crimp within. The hammer crimper has a specific shape and produces a perfect solid crimp. So if you need to make some for your electric car conversion or for your golf cart then i'd say the hammer crimper is the absolute best. Use the thick glue type of heat shrink after you make your crimp and cut it long enough to allow for bending as needed and to fully cover the crimped area for a total seal.

One more thing to add. Don't forget the lubrication grease needed on the tip of the tool for each crimp to allow the metal to stretch properly during the forging process. It does not take much but it is needed. It is recommended by the manufacturer. What happens with out the lube is the tip pulls the metal and tears it causing fractures and holes which would allow moisture in to cause corrosion. Something you don't want. So be sure you use a tiny dab of grease/lube on the tip of the tool.
