Rejected X Factor contestant Gamu Nhengu stole the show at the MOBO Awards last night, rubbing shoulders with the stars as she walked the red carpet in Liverpool.

In the first public outing since her dramatic X Factor exit, the shy star wowed the crowds and worked the cameras like a pro, stepping out in a thigh-skimming velvet mini and towering leopard print heels.

Revealing her immigration battle is still up in the air ('we don't know what's happening and haven't had any contact yet,'), she added that she still watches the X Factor every weekend, and is rooting for Katie and Cher.

'I've loved the other girls from the beginning,' Gamu told the Metro. 'I think Cher is absolutely talented and Katie has this old school thing going on.

'I love my girls and really support them. I am really proud of them and I watch every Saturday.'

And it seems the songstress has already moved on from the X Factor, putting her quick recovery down to fans' support.

'Have I got over the pain? I guess so... It was gutting but the love I've got from people has definitely helped, definitely helped to heal the wound,' she said.

And that's not all. Gamu told how a record deal could also be in the works, adding that she had been 'approached by several major record companies', and is now 'deciding the best one.'
