This scene is "Barber's Entrance" from Zarzuela El Barberillo de Lavapiés which was performed live at the Jarvis Conservatory, Napa, CA in June of 2005. A barber is a central figure of this Zarzuela, following the role model created by French author Beaumarchais. In trying to protect a Marquesa he and his dressmaker girlfriend become involved in a conspiracy to overthrow the Spanish government. Between beautiful musical numbers, amusing situations and great dancing a change of government takes place.
The Jarvis Conservatory brings the charm and beauty of Zarzuela to the English-speaking as well as Spanish-speaking audiences. All spoken parts are performed in English while the songs remain in their original Spanish. Featuring Spanish and English subtitles.
